On Sunday 5 May 2024, we celebrated the reopening for worship of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Vergin of Romito in Padula, after the renovation works which affected the chapel, the bell tower and the surrounding area as part of the Padula Sacra project.
Like every year on the first Sunday of May the faithful first gathered at the Church of SS. Annunziata in Padula for the celebration of mass, and then carrying the statue of the Virgin in procession along the streets of the town up to the place called Croce. From there the statue and pilgrims continued the journey by car towards the sanctuary on the mountain, located at a height of 1380 metres.
Waiting for the faithful, accompanied by the parish priest Don Giuseppe Radesca, was the bishop of the diocese of Teggiano-Policastro, Father Antonio De Luca, with whom Don Giuseppe shared the Eucharistic celebration. This was followed by greetings from the institutions present, in particular those from the Mayor of Padula Mrs. Michela Cimino and the Mr. Corrado Matera, Councilor for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Campania Region.
