The first results of interdisciplinary research aimed at codifying control procedures and non-destructive analysis of the state of conservation of cultural heritage artefacts to guide preventive conservation actions have been published.

The investigation was conducted on our church of San Michele Arcangelo in Padula affected by phenomena of detachment of the plaster of some frescoes from 1954, located on the intrados of the vaulted systems, from which traces of previous paintings are now visible.

Thanks to the use of innovative technologies and tools, it was possible to reconstruct the three-dimensional model of the architectural relief, identify areas of the vault particularly at risk and provide indications, from a predictive perspective, for conservative prevention interventions.

The analyzes and related critical evaluations are the starting point for directing direct intervention actions and orienting the most appropriate choices for subsequent, more limited and targeted diagnostic investigations, reducing damage to our historical heritage.

The study is coordinated by prof. Massimiliano Campi, by professor Antonella di Luggo and by the architect. Valeria Cera of the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II, as part of the Scientific Collaboration Agreement between the Interdepartmental Urban\Eco Research Center of Federico II and the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro, in the figure of the Vicar General, Don Giuseppe Radesca.

This phase of the project saw the support of the arch. Michele Sanseviero, Alessandro Cancellaro and Marika Falcone as well as the contribution of the architects Giovanni Angrisani and Lorenzo Bisceglia.
